How did Brooklyn's favorite gourmet shop get it's start, you ask? 15 years ago, The Greene Grape opened on a bustling block on Fulton Street, Fort Greene's main thoroughfare. The original store was an upscale, yet welcoming, neighborhood wine shop. Since then, it's grown to encompass more than wine and spirits with the addition of Provisions, a ground-breaking gourmet grocery, and the much-beloved café, Annex (which sadly closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic).
The Greene Grape is a woman-owned, values-driven business. The woman behind the brand is Amy Bennett, a longtime Fort Greene resident, entrepreneur, lawyer, and mother of 3. Amy has built a diverse and dedicated team of butchers, cheesemongers, chefs, managers, cashiers, stockers, porters, and delivery people, all of whom are eligible for health insurance and receive fair wages and paid time off.
With it's cheery blue and green awnings, The Greene Grape is a neighborhood landmark, right across the street from the Brooklyn Love building. Being located in historic Fort Greene means being a part of a vibrant community of customers, employees, vendors, and friends.
The Greene Grape's main mission is to support the makers whose products fill our shelves. Whether it's bean-to-bar chocolate and farmstead cheese at Provisions or natural wine and locally-distilled spirits at Wine & Spirits, our stores are committed to sourcing goods made with integrity, skill and pride.
In our stores–and now in our gift baskets–we offer the highest quality gourmet sweets and treats. Our inveterate buyers search high and low for artisanal products from local and small-batch makers and emerging brands–a rarity in today's Big Box world.
Best of all, our site makes it easy to shop with your values. Each product includes a helpful checklist so you can easily identify if it's made by a BIPOC, LGBTQ, Women-Owned or local company, along with Fair Trade, Certified Kosher, Vegan and Gluten-Free labels that help you choose products that deliver more than just great taste.
Shop with us, in-person or online, and support a fair and equitable future for our food system. The Greene Grape is all about spreading love, in Brooklyn...and beyond.
