Greene Grape Provisions is currently seeking a Deli Manager for our busy specialty Deli Counter & Prepared Foods Department. We are in need of someone with a passion for food who has a proven track record of leadership in a comparable specialty food environment. The Deli Manager will work directly with the Sous Chef & Head Chef to assume leadership of all Deli Department operations. They will have the opportunity to help create a seasonal menu of specialty sandwiches and other prepared foods using ethically and locally sourced ingredients. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work a full deli schedule, providing guidance and support to Deli Team Members
  • Train deli staff on current and new menu items while providing stellar customer service 
  • Create weekly deli schedule, ensuring the department is always fully staffed at all times
  • Ensure all company handbook guidelines are being followed at all times
  • Assist Head Chef in performing annual performance reviews
  • Assume leadership of all deli organization, storage and cleanliness
  • Maintain all temperature log books and ingredients binders, and ensure DOA compliance at all times
  • Clean, stock and organize refrigerated storage and deli counter, ensuring shelves are fully stocked and presentable, and all products are properly rotated 
  • Ensure all deli equipment is safe to use, properly cleaned and serviced daily
  • Display proper signage for all deli items, both at the counter and in the grab & go case
  • Work directly with the Head Chef & Sous Chef to discuss all Deli Department operational needs
  • Assist in receiving all department deliveries, using hand truck to carry cases of product to downstairs storage areas
  • Perform routine inventory and order bread, meats & cheeses daily & weekly, working to keep spoilage to a minimum
  • Ensure all pricing and product information is correct in POS
  • Lead Deli Team to perform quarterly inventory count, with a focus on accuracy
  • Work as a team with other departments and counters to provide assistance when needed
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards as defined by both the handbook and by the DOA
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service to every customer and contribute to a positive work environment

Requirements

  • Passion for gastronomy and sustainable food practices
  • Previous experience in a comparable specialty food environment
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational & communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk up/down stairs, use hand truck, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Proven track record of DOH and/or DOA inspections
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends and holidays
  • NYC Food Handler’s License
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
