Job Opening: Produce Team Member
Greene Grape Provisions, located in two adjacent storefronts on Fulton Street in Fort Greene, provides the best quality gourmet groceries to our Brooklyn neighborhood. We offer locally sourced organic produce, farmstead & artisanal cheeses and charcuterie, ethically-sourced meats and fish from our whole animal butcher and fishmonger, along with house-made prepared foods and tasty sandwiches. We also stock ice-cold craft beers, unique beverages, local dairy products, and artisan ice cream. At Greene Grape Provisions, eating well is a way of life.
The Produce Team Member aims to support and improve Greene Grape’s produce department. The employee will work closely with peers to receive, prepare, stock, and maintain produce sourced from local, organic, and/or IPM farms. The Produce Team Member will strive to create a beautiful entrance and friendly atmosphere for customers entering the store.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers as they enter the store
- Maintain fresh, crisp and attractive displays on the department floor
- Maintain accurate and attractive signage for all items
- Complete all assigned daily tasks and deep cleaning responsibilities as outlined during shift time
- Assist in receiving and properly rotating department deliveries and maintaining backstock inventory, using FIFO procedures
- Prepare, cut, and pack produce items as needed
- Know each produce item’s unique needs and handle each item with diligent care
- Work as a team with other departments and counters to provide assistance when needed
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards as defined by both the handbook and by the DOA
- Demonstrate outstanding customer service to every customer and contribute to a positive work environment
Requirements
- An excellent work ethic and willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of popular herbs, vegetables, and fruits, as well as an appreciation for food and cooking preferred
- Great customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk up/down stairs, use hand truck, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends and holidays
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination

- Hourly wage $15-$16/hr, based on experience, with overtime for any hours worked over 40 weekly
