Job Opening: Stock & Porter
Greene Grape Provisions, located in two adjacent storefronts on Fulton Street in Fort Greene, provides the best quality gourmet groceries to our Brooklyn neighborhood. The Provisions Stock Person / Shift Porter is responsible for overseeing daily stocking, receiving, and cleaning responsibilities in the store. The Stock Person stocks items for the grocery, beverage, frozen, and dairy departments. The Shift Porter maintains a clean work environment for every department and assists with catering and grocery deliveries. The ideal candidate is a self starter who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. This position reports directly to the Stock and Receiving Manager, and receives additional instruction from the Grocery Buyer.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper rotation of all products on retail floor and in storage areas, including walk-ins and freezers, constantly checking dates and organizing using FIFO procedures
- Keep all shelves fully stocked, merchandised and abundant, using FIFO procedures
- Maintain accurate and attractive signage for all items
- Ensure cleanliness for both the sales floor and basement by sweeping, mopping, dusting etc.
- Report low or out of stock items to Floor Managers and Receiving Manager
- Breakdown of cardboard boxes on a daily basis
- Complete miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned by Receiving Manager and Floor Managers
- Receive daily deliveries, ensuring invoice accuracy and using hand truck to carry cases of product to downstairs storage areas
- Work as a team with other departments and counters to provide assistance when needed
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards as defined by both the handbook and by the DOA
- Demonstrate outstanding customer service to every customer and contribute to a positive work environment
Requirements
- Excellent organization & communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk up/down stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends and holidays
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
