What A Cheesy Holiday: Valentine's Day Cheeses

Whether you love cheesy romance or dismiss Valentine’s Day as the cheesiest of holidays, there’s one thing both camps can probably agree on—any excuse to eat good cheese. As we always say, there’s no actual need for an excuse, because we’ll always be here to enable your every cheese desire, but we’ll play along if need be. Most of the cheeses stocked in our cheese case could count as a treat, but our Head Cheesemonger thinks these three are your best bets for a cheesy night in.

Ticklemore | Neal's Yard Dairy
Goat Milk

A goat’s milk cheese that doesn’t taste remotely ‘goaty’, the Ticklemore combines light and gently lemony flavours with herbaceous notes that deepen with age, and reveals a firm, chalky texture beneath its stark white rind. This cheese only just landed, and we only have a limited quantity—make sure you get a taste before it’s gone!

Cottonbell | Boxcarr Handmade Cheese
Cow’s Milk

The end of goat milk season falls right in line with the beginning of the coldest months of the year. Boxcarr takes full advantage of high butterfat cow’s milk and the body’s natural urge to eat richer, heartwarming foods by beginning production of Cottonbell. This all-cow’s milk sister to Cottonseed boasts warming notes of cultured butter, oyster-shell salinity, and mushroom woodiness.

Heart's Desire | Cowgirl Creamery
Cow’s Milk

Cowgirl Creamery's Valentine's Day triple cream is a heart shaped Mt Tam, Cowgirl Creamery's signature cheese! It's a smooth, creamy, elegant triple-cream encased in a snowy-white bloomy rind. Made with organic milk from the Straus Family Dairy, Mt Tam is firm yet buttery with a mellow, earthy flavor reminiscent of white mushrooms.

Looking for an even more decadent companion to these amazing cheeses? Our cheese counter has caviar and truffles in stock, available both in-store and for same-day local delivery and pickup! We've also got blinis, crème fraîche, and even pearl spoons to make sure you have the perfect spread.
