What's Your Pour-oscope? March Edition

Humans have always looked to the stars for inspiration about what the future holds when it comes to work, romance and relationships, even money. So why can’t the stars also inspire what our glasses hold? That is the idea behind our new monthly series, “What’s Your Pour-oscope?” Each month, we’ll highlight 12 bottles to accent what is written on the stars for every sign in the zodiac. March 20 marks both the spring equinox and the astrological New Year, when the solar season begin anew, so the stars are truly aligned for this one. The sky is the limit!

Pisces: Chateau Peyrassol Reserve Templiers 2019

New to our shelves, this vegan biodynamic white is a joint venture between Amós Bañeres and Alex Ruiz in Penedès, Catalonia. Amós is a former pharmacist who grew tired with his occupation and started to make natural wine in 2011 under the Amós Bañeres name. He joined with Alex, a winemaker who had been making Cava for his family winery and was yearning for a fresh challenge. With notes of white pepper, pear blossom, and flint on the nose and spicily complex flavors of Gala apple and white peach, this refreshing wine is gorgeous with Manchego-topped bruschetta, baked fish, poultry, and roasted veggies. 

Taurus: Neirano Barolo 2016

Taurus, you’re always looking for comfort, especially after all of the hard work you’ve been putting in lately. The sun fully supports this, slipping into your restful twelfth house this weekend. It’s a perfect time to kick back and enjoy this Barolo from Tenute Neirano, a wine as powerful and classic as you are. Gemini: Domaine Bonnardot Hautes Cotes-de Beaune 2019 

Gemini, some call you two faced, but we know you just love to chat. You’re a born superconnector. This month, the stars are all how you use your social graces to help bring your brilliant ideas to life. This Pinot Noir from Domaine Bonnardot, a family estate with winemaking roots that dat back to the 1400s, is a crowd-pleaser that’s got plenty to say. Smoothly textured and filled with juicy red berries and savory sweet herbs, it’s as unforgettable as you are. Pair with roasted white meats, seared duck breast and mushroom risotto.

Cancer: Rihaku “Dreamy Clouds” Sake

Sensitive and caring, but with a taste for the unusual—that is Cancer is a … well, crab shell. Tune into your inner voice, set your intentions, and visualize what you want. Venus will join the sun in Aries this month, which means that you definitely don’t have to do all of that work, and all of the sipping alone. Three generations of the Leonardini family (hence, “Tre Leoni”) are responsible for this expertly made proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel. The wine opens with notes of candied blackberries, red currants, black plums, anise, and sage. The palate is bursting with ripe, earthy fruits dusted with rich cocoa powder.
