All That's Fit To Grill: A 2021 Guide To Memorial Day
Whether you’re a beef maestro, a pork authority, or a plant-based sage, we’ve got everything and anything you’ll want to grill this Memorial Day weekend. (This year, that includes seasonal sweet corn!)
Our ground beef, hailing as always from Slope Farm where grass-fed cows roam the hills of Meredith, NY, is the perfect lean-to-fat ratio for the perfect burger. No eggs or breadcrumbs needed here! You can make your own patties with ease, but if you’re in a hurry like so many of us are, our butchers have whipped up plenty of premade patties, like our popular Short Rib Burger, to keep you grilling and grooving. Right now, we’re liking our burgers best with a fluffy potato roll from Martin’s, crisp slices of our House Made Bacon, and some flavorful slices of melty Prairie Breeze cheddar, washed down with a tried and true Sixpoint Crisp pilsner.
Our house made sausages have such a wide variety thanks to our imaginative butchers, though we’ll always keep Hot Italian and Sweet Italian sausages ready and in stock. If want some more sausage to grill up, renowned Upper East Side charcuterier, Schaller & Weber, collaborated with classic New York restauranteurs. For the spice fiends at the table, Maroon Sausage's Pineapple Jerk Chicken Sausage has a hefty kick that's just right. We suggest plating them up with Martin’s hot dog potato rolls and giving them all a turn on your table this weekend!

These need little introduction, made with vegan-friendly ingredients like peas, rice, and mung beans. It’s not just that they taste good, as Beyond Meat’s many fans will tell you; the texture can get even the biggest meat lover to ask for seconds! Layer up with butterhead lettuce and local tomatoes with some whole grain mustard and Brooklyn Delhi’s Curry Ketchup for a combination with some real plant-based panache. If you’ve been in Fort Greene just long enough, you’ll remember Prospect’s secret burger special—those were served on Port Muffins, a cross between an English muffin and brioche that are shockingly perfect for burgers, plant-based or beef!
Of course, everyone will want something to nosh on while the grill is going. Make it a no-brainer and finish American Cheese Month strong with the All-American Cheese Box!
