Red is The Color of Love: Day Wine ‘Hock & Deuce”

If reds are your thing we’ve got just the wine for you and mom to sip on. Day Wines is helmed by Brianne Day and hails from Applegate Valley, Oregon. Oregon wines are gaining in popularity, and as the weather gets warmer it's not all about Pinot anymore. Hock & Deuce is a Syrah, Viognier blend that is surprisingly delicate for q Syrah, in part due to its generous (20%) dose of Viognier. Organic and sustainably farmed, this wine is unfined and unfiltered perfectly expressing the volcanic soils where it's grown. Effortlessly elegant with delicate and nuanced flavours this reads as a very feminine wine. The wine leads with notes of crushed berries, black pepper, clove and violets. The palate is soft with a satin feel and a lingering fruit forward finish. This wine can definitely be sipped on its own but will pair beautifully with roast pork dishes, lamb or grilled veggies.

This One’s For the Ladies: Donne Fittipaldi ‘Bolgheri Rosso’

What’s better than a glass of wine with mom? A glass of wine that's made by a mom with her daughters that's what! Donne Fittipaldi is owned and operated by Maria Fittipaldi and her four daughters. Their goal has always been to produce wines of great elegance and harmony, but above all else, wines that expertly tell the story of Bolgheri terroir. An elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. This wine captures all the luxury of Tuscany at a price point rarely seen in this quality. Fruity on the nose with notes of cherry, cassis, dried herbs, with the slightest underpinning of spice. Round silky tannins and a satisfying finish keep you coming back sip after sip. Easy to drink without sacrificing complexity, the Fittipaldi women look to create wine that embodies feminine strength and character. Pair with a wide range of foods from hearty red meats and medium aged cheeses to roasted vegetable dishes.

A Mother's Job Is Never Done: Edith & Ida Chardonnay

If white is more your style, Edith & Ida Chardonnay is a must-try. A project from The Hobo Wine Company, a scrappy helmed by the husband-and-wife team of Lynn Wheeler and Kenny Likitprakong. The Edith & Ida line is Lynn Wheeler’s baby, and named for her two daughters. Lynne has said the idea behind the project is “to make the best wine she can with the smallest environmental impact and cellar intervention as possible. These wines are ambitious, socially responsible, and true indicators of terroir. This elegant Chardonnay is made from some of the oldest grapes in the state. Beautifully textured, the wine offers notes of apricot, lemon zest and green pear, with a taut and focused palate showing just a hint of oak. It’s a gorgeous partner for any Mother’s Day celebration.

A Place In Time: Pares Balta Amphora Brisat

Parés Baltà’s roots run deep; the first vines were planted on the estate date back to 1790. Still a family run operation and thoroughly macerated in history and tradition, the winery is managed by Joan and Josep Cusiné Carol, alongside their wives Maria Elena Jimenez and Marta Casas, who together manage the winemaking and viticulture, all while raising a family. This pearlescent, natural, organic, biodynamic and unique Xarel·lo is a great example, fermented with the skins in amphorae specially made using clay from the estate, the same clay the Iberians used thousands of years ago. Aromas of delicate white fruit and toasted almond entice the nose and palate, balanced by refined structure, and ending in a long, complex finish. This wine is unique, it’s  history in a glass, while still managing to feel completely contemporary and charming. Perfect to sip on the porch with mom or serve with fish and grilled seafood (veggies are great too!).

Raising The Bar: Guillon-Painturaud VSOP Cognac

If wine isn’t your thing, or isn’t your mom's thing, we have just the ticket. Cognac has long been associated with men of a certain age, but that’s not the whole story. Line Guillon-Painturaud, one of the few female distillers in all of Cognac, distills her family’s four centuries experience into this award-winning Cognac made from 100% sustainably farmed Ugni Blanc with no added yeasts, colorants, or flavors. The Cognac is aged an average of 15 years in French oak (4 years longer than required), which you can taste with every smooth, exquisite sip. Toffee, vanilla, orange peel and spiced apple are all present in this exceptionally smooth cognac. With just a kiss of honeyed sweetness on the finish; this is the perfect gift for a cognac lover, or a palatable entry into the cognac world.
