Ho Ho Hops: Holiday Beers For Holiday Cheers
There are a lot of traditional drinks to be had around this time of year, especially if you ask the fine folks over at Wine & Spirits. For the mad elf looking for the unconventional, though, our beer case is well stocked with festive brews, and Beer Buyer Brian Cullen has shared his holiday picks for the season!
New York Cider Co Press Run #4
New York Cider Co’s latest release is, as Brian puts it, “The sour beer of cider.” Ultra-dry, more tangy than sweet, this cider is the antidote to the saccharine ciders that are often on offer during the holidays. NY Cider Co’s bottles are also notoriously hard to keep on the shelf, and just as hard to get more of, so don’t wait! *Because of the seasonal nature and limited run of this cider, it’s currently only available in-store.
Abomination Brewing Company Santa's Black Blood
Abomination Brewing Company's gift to us this season is this double pastry stout, brewed with vanilla beans, milk sugar, and enough eggnog spices for you to really taste it. Brian suggests this as a worthy eggnog alternative, with lots of dark, malty flavor and a rich, thick pour.
Omnipollo Menelik
This milk chocolate stout from Omnipollo has just about every flavor you could want on a cold December night, brewed with coffee, vanilla, cocoa nibs, hazelnut, nutmeg, and more. Brian calls this stout “everything but the kitchen sink,” and yet the flavors are so expertly blended that all you feel is delighted from first to last sip.
